Spring Update 2023

    Dear friends of Mukanzo Orphanage,

I trust that you have been doing well by God’s grace since Covid-19. I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to you for your past donation(s), which have made a world of difference in meeting the orphanage’s everyday needs.

As you may know, we received funds from a very generous anonymous donor in March 2021, to buy land and build a new home for our 37 children. The children have since moved-in to their beautiful facility and they absolutely love it.

However, our monthly donor list is very short. We receive on average $2,000 monthly, which includes donations received incidentally. However, our monthly expenses are $4,330.

School fees have increased and the children are older and needing more equipment. Moreover, MOF’s new facility has brought on extra monthly expenses that we seek to cover. This includes the driver who takes the children to and from school daily ($150 USD), gas($200 USD), the director ($350 USD), the security guard($200 USD) and hygienic cleaning products ($50 USD) among other things. Medical issues like appendicitis and malaria have also been prevalent lately. This leaves us short every month by about CAD$2330.

From this point it would appear that there is only negative things to report, when in fact, the new location, in spite of increased cost for transportation and maintenance, and with the addition of the acreage of expanded land, has given opportunity for growing corn and greens and possibility of adding more chickens and even goats to supplement the diet of the children a reduce food costs but also ability to sell water from the well and bread from the kiosk. There is a good atmosphere among the children, and they appreciate the new facilities.

Mukanzo Orphanage needs your support now more than ever before. This is a cry for help! It is now a matter of urgency as our balance can only cover 2 months of expenses before it is depleted. I urge you to please consider partnering with us and help us to continue to care for the children in our care. We haven’t been able to do the regular fund-raising during covid19 and need to do presentations in churches to present the work. Until then, it would be most helpful to have more monthly donations. Can those of you giving monthly possibly increase your support? Or one-time larger donations could do the same thing.

We are trusting God to supply the needs as He has in the past.

May God bless you abundantly for your generosity!
