Hello dear friends of MOF,
First, some GOOD news: It’s time to “raise up our Ebenezer”!
HUH??
Back in Bible times, when Samuel defeated the Philistines, he ‘raised up his Ebenezer’, his “stone of help” as a reminder of how God helped him and His people in their time of trouble. The children of Mukanzo Orphanage Foundation (MOF) have experienced their share of trouble and loss….but this year they have also experienced a victory!
As you will recall, in January this year one couple saw fit to come alongside us in a really big way, providing a large capital contribution to make possible the current building project. Since Auguy left for Tshikapa in mid March it has been a whirlwind of activity. MOF purchased land and began construction in earnest.
Now we are able to “raise our Ebenezer”, in the form of a 600 meter brick and mortar wall surrounding our new facility…it is a symbol of God’s help to MOF! In the coming months, we plan to share with you some of the amazing things which have been completed, so please stay tuned!
Auguy frequently sends video updates from the orphanage. We watch these over and over, so as not to miss any detail! We feel so fortunate to have Auguy on our board.
THE ORPHANAGE STILL NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT
With such an exciting, large scale project being advanced, it feels like partial sustainability is closer than ever before! That said, MOF continues to have significant daily operational costs. The children continue to need meals, clothes, education, and the loving care of competent staff. We are so grateful for the generosity of YOU, our partners in raising these children, and bringing MOF to this point. With this building and campus, your funds will be so much more effective as we strive for increased sustainability. That said, with the services MOF can now provide, it is unlikely these costs will go down in the near future. The goal of sustainability takes time.
The care that YOU, the donor, provide for 37 children requires about $2500 monthly. We – the committee in Winnipeg, and the staff in Tshikapa, make every dollar count! Would you consider investing more than you already are, or investing in MOF for the first time? All donations are gratefully accepted: one-time or monthly. It costs approximately $60/month to support one child. Remember, nearly all of your money goes straight to benefit the kids of MOF. We keep our administrative low, and in Canada we are all volunteers. You can e-transfer your one time donation to mukanzofoundation@gmail.com OR You can send a cheque made out to “Accountable Development Works” to 83 Monck Ave, Winnipeg, R2H 1W8 To set up monthly support please go to http://www.canadaHelps.org and search for Accountable Development Works. You can follow the simple process there.
On a sad note, we want to acknowledge one of our supporters, Rick Wiebe, who passed away
in early August from Ideopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. The plans and layout for our new facility were generously donated by Rick. He also dreamed up and designed the kiosk that now sits near the front gates of the new Mukanzo property. Shortly before Rick passed I sent him a video of the children of Mukanzo praying earnestly (and loudly!) for him and his family. He accepted
these prayers with gratitude. We are so thankful for the help Rick provided and we will miss him.
We extend our sincere prayers for comfort to his family. Rest In Peace Rick.
Stay tuned as we plan to share with you the new facility, and the many things that are being
completed in order to prepare for MOF income earning projects! Unlike other overseas
charities, you can call Odette or me at any time to ask for an update about this project or the
kids! But be forewarned…we might talk your ear off!
We so appreciate your interest in MOF. We welcome your ideas and suggestions!
We invite you to join in celebration with the staff and children in Tshikapa – ‘Raising up our
Ebenezer’, and also in ensuring that this new building will provide the best support possible
in their journey to adulthood and families of their own.
Sincerely,
